Zagreb to Lake Plitvice. 130 KM. ( 80.7 MILES)

5/14

Happy Birthday Pali!!!!!

After a great breakfast at Rebo Hotel, packed our belongings try to get our Chiquita’s directions but she refused. My Google Map worked and we took the road.

After the normal roundabouts ( like 8 of them) we hit the Highway. D36 for a while, then the Zagreb-Rijeka highway.

We passed Jastrebarsko, where we paid the toll, 19 kunas, passed Karlovac, a city in between that has a castle, a Franciscan monastery and. The Church of Holy Trinity, then Tusilovic, Blagaj, and somewhere in between we stopped for a pit-stop and surprise! Cafe Norma…..continue driving, Novo Selo, Ostarski Stanovi, and our final point Rakovica where our hotel was.

But, our hotel is a bed and breakfast, not really breakfast, just bed, so no signs on the highway to get here. We asked a postman and he did not know!!!

Finally, Google at hand again, and after making a U turn, we got into the Place.

Rakovica is a village, underdeveloped municipality which is classified as the First Category Area of special State Concern by the Government of Croatia and it is in the Karlovac County.

One of the sights other than the Plitvice lakes, are the Caves of Barac which we will visit tomorrow.

Went out for a bit, found a market (no breakfast here) and we got some ham and cheese, bread, honey, milk and cereal…….and yes!!! .some Pivo. (Beer)

Weather: 40 to 50…..some precipitation….. to be continued. Not too bad internet service!

Left the hotel to go to dinner. Took our Batmobile, ignored Chiquita, and found a place (the only place) with the best reviews.. LOL… we had a kind of a big turnover, stuffed with chicken, mushroom, cream of ??????, oven baked, it was good!!!

Crepes filled with walnut cream, good…and soda , Im driving, so it was the only choice 😦

Back to the hotel. 40 degrees outside, at 8 PM. That will be all for today!
