5/13/2024. LAX to Phoenix, picked up Jackie and flew to New Orleans.

New Orleans Bourbon Hotel…..Amazing

Went out to dinner in our first night, it was drizzling, and very humid. Small restaurant, had some Creole food, very good, dont remember the name!!!!!

Fuimos a cenar en nuestra primera noche, estaba lloviznando y estaba muy húmedo. Comimos comida autentica de aqui llamada Creole, muy rica , pero no me acuerdo el nombre del restaurante.

First drink (on the house). The alarm sound in the hotel, we could not get into the room, so I asked the manager…..what about a drink while we wait?????? Once the alarm went off, before going to our room, the manager approached us and said: order whatever you want to drink and it will be on the house. Margarita for Jackie and Hurricane for me Rhum, lemon juice and passion fruit……

La primera noche nos regalaron un trago. Sonó la alarme en el hotel, y no pudimos entrar en la habitación, entonces le pregunte al conserje….ya que no podemos ir a nuestro cuarto, porque no nos invitas con un trago mientras esperamos??? en cuanto la alarma termino de sonar, antes de ir al cuarto, el conserje se acerco y nos dijo: ordenen lo que quieran de tragos y la casa las invita!!!!. Jackie pidió un margarita y yo un Huracán. ( ron, jugo de limón y jugo de maracuya)

Breakfast at the hotel, and went out for a walk. French Quarter and surrounded areas.

Saint Louis Cathedral, the oldest Cathedral at North America, one of the most notable landmarks, it is overlooking Jackson Square.

Catedral de San Luis, la catedral mas antigua de Norteamérica, uno de los lugares mas conocidos, con vista a la plaza Jackson.

Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne, Sier de Bienville founded the city in 1718.

5/15/2024. Wednesday

Starting the day with Beignets! Comenzamos el dia con Beignet (bolas de fraile con azúcar impalpable)

Followed by Hop on Hop off around New Orleans, ending at the WWII Museum.

By the end of it, we were hungry AGAIN, so we decided for Muffaletta, originated by Sicilian immigrants that came to New Orleans, sesame seed roll , with cured meats (ham,salami, mortadella) provolone cheese and dressed with green and black olives with onion and olive oil and spices – big enough for sharing!!

Terminamos el dia, con mucho hambre, decidimos probar la Muffaletta. Los inmigrantes sicilianos la trajeron a Nueva Orleans y aqui se hizo muy conocida. Jamón, salame, mortadella, queso provolone y mucho condimento de aceitunas negras y verdes y etc. suficiente para compartir!

Back to the hotel for our drink that’s Jackie’s specialty. Rhum and Coke

Volvimos al hotel para tomar el trago especialidad de Jackie: Rum y Coca Cola.

And good night!!!! Y buenos noches

5/16/2024. Thursday

Beautiful day! Little humid but nice. we crossed the Mississippi RIver by ferry.

Cruzamos el rio Mississippi en un ferry. Aquí va!

We arrived to Algiers Port, (10 minutes crossing) nothing to see there, and old part of the city

Llegamos al puerto de Algiers, al otro lado del Mississipppi, 10 minutos para cruzar el rio. El color del Rio de la Plata!

We find a little coffee shop where we had a sandwich.

Encontramos un café donde comimos un sandwich.

Back on the ferry we walk to a theater were they had the Monet exposition. And back to the hotel by Uber (it was very hot to come back walking!

Volvimos con el ferry y fuimos a ver la exposición de Monet. Luego al hotel con Uber porque hacia mucho calor para caminar!

We went to dinner Pete Antoine’s New Orleans, we had shrimp and fries. It was ok

Wake up early, took a cab to the airport and a JetBlue plane to Boston.

Uber to the hotel!!! Whyndam Boston Beacon Hill……oh well….not as expected!!!!!! Very old hotel….no more comments!!!!!! But we have a hospital a block away. LOL and the fire department across the street .

In case we have a heart attack we have a place to go!!!!!

Nos levantamos temprano, tomamos un taxi al aeropuerto y el avión a Boston., Uber hacia el hotel, mucho nombre. Pero no lo que esperábamos! El hospital a 1 cuadra;, los bomberos enfrente…..en caso de que tengamos un ataque al cuore sabemos adonde ir!!!! Jajajaja

El trago de esta noche: margarita, pero muy fuerte para mi!!!! Le podremos Baileys mañana!
