Good bye Split!!!! It has been wonderful!

5/20/19

Split is crying because we are leaving. It has been raining like non of our days, pouring! Thunder and all!

We will leave the hotel room at 10 AM. A taxi will pick us up at 5 PM to take us to the airport. Split – Zagreb – Dubrovnik. I know! We have been in Zagreb, but that is our flight schedule with Croatian Airlines.

Like everyday, we had breakfast at the hotel, finishing our luggage and we were planning to visit the Cathedral that we could not yesterday, if the rain subsides, we will.

9:30 AM. Out for a walk. No more rain, it looks so clear after the rain, beautiful sight.

The stores are starting to come alive, tents coming up, umbrellas ready just in case 🙂

Three views from the Promenade.

Walked for a while along the Adriatic Sea, until the rain came again. Umbrellas open, and the walked turned out briskly, but we did not stop!

Now still raining going to the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, the Catholic cathedral in Split. The cathedral is the seat of the Archdioceses of Split. It is regarded as the oldest Catholic cathedral in the world that remains in use in its original structure. The structure, built in AD 305 as the Mausoleum of Diocletian, is the second oldest structure used by any Christian Cathedral.

Not done yet!!!! The taxi came in, all the way to the lobby of the hotel, carried our luggage to the car (3 blocks away), I carried mine….and 40 minutes later we were at the Split Airport. Checked in, and the lady at the stand said: are you flying first class?????? I answered….we don’t mind, if we have to do that….she smiled!!!!

Our seats. 2A and 2B. Waited 1 hour at the small airport, the propeller airplane showed up, we sat down in the second row……the plane took off, and 10 minutes into the flight the stewardess asked as what did we want it to drink…I asked….what do you have? Her answer: wine, red or white, beer, any drinks you desire ladies……

I opted for red wine (very well known Croatia for its wine) and Jackie had white. 10 minutes later, a tray with a petit sandwich and a cookie……Imagine only a 50 minutes flight, so enough time to drink the wine, engulf the mini sandwich, and landed!!!!
It was so much fun! So now in Zagreb (again) waiting for the next flight to Dubrovnik.

Zagreb. 2 hours waiting time for the next flight to Dubrovnik. Mind you is a 50 minutes flight…….anyway, landed at 11:45 PM, we were just a little tired. Got our luggage, went outside to look for our transport to the hotel,, and he was there!!!!!!

He laughed when I told him that we went from Split to Zagreb to Dubrovnik. So when he stopped laughing he said: Do you know that it takes 2 hours by bus???? Well , it took us 7 hours by plane, between the taxi and 2 planes….anyway, we got to the hotel and got to bed! By now is 5/21/19 1 AM…….
