Cruise Rhine River. June 2025

6/16

After a long and tiring journey, I finally arrived in Amsterdam. I had three flights to get there. Jackie boarded the flight from LAX, and I followed suit. We flew to London, where we had a two-hour layover. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough time to rest and recharge. The plane then waited for us in Amsterdam, and we finally arrived.

We took a taxi to the AI Apartment, which was quite expensive. Exhausted, we walked to a small market and bought bread, cream cheese, ham, and cheese for a light dinner and breakfast the next day.

6/17. We had a 9-hour time difference, which made it difficult to adjust. It’s 10 o’clock, and I just woke up.

Had coffee and a sandwich to start the day with some energy.

We walked to the Metro station, placed my credit card at the designated door, and handed it to Jackie for her to do the same. However, a woman there (whom I had asked for guidance) informed us that we couldn’t use my credit card to pay for her trip. She treated us as if we were truants. Afterward, we boarded the Metro and exited at Centraal Station.

On the Metro going to Centraal Station, Amsterdam

I contacted Fede. I knew he was just arriving in Amsterdam with his cousin Toni, while I was six stations away from my final destination. He was also going to the same place at the same time, and he was six stations away from his final destination!

Getting Out of the Metro, I managed to get Wi-Fi again. I quickly contacted Fede, who was eagerly waiting for me! It was such a delightful reunion! After a long hug filled with tears, we settled down. He was accompanied by Toni, while I was with Jackie. We spent an entire hour engrossed in conversation. Subsequently, he and Toni went to check in at their place, while Jackie and I decided to embark on a boat ride into the Canal. We learned about the boat houses parked there, guided by a guide with a rather challenging English accent, which is quite common here!

After the tour we stop by an Italian place for some pizza, very very thin crust, good!!!! We ate and strolled the streets of downtown Amsterdam,

So picturesque, walk into a high end mall de Bijenkorf, by the Dam Square were we found many of the high end stores, pass the Natrional Monument, and walk toward the Red District, a must, but trivial. By then we were exhausted and decided to take an Uber.

We walk through the Red District.

I said already that i was exhausted, after trying different ways to approach the app, I got it, but…..gave the driver the wrong address, so when we got there, we have to change the address and got to the hotel. And that is all for today.
